Colorado Teens in Driver’s Ed Classes Learn How Distracting Cell Phone Conversations Can Be

Watts-croppedLast week Joel Feldman spoke with teens in driver’s education classes in Colorado’s St. Vrain Valley School District  about distracted driving. In order to demonstrate just  how distracting cell phone conversations can be the teens participated in a cognitive distraction exercise.

“The exercise is designed to highlight that while we think we can concentrate on more than one activity at a time, the truth is we can not. Having a cell phone conversation while driving adversely affects our ability to concentrate on driving.   After the exercise the teens agreed that cell phone conversations and driving just do not mix,” said Joel Feldman.
