April was distracted driving awareness month and California took it seriously. As part of a state-wide effort to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, cell phone and texting, California’s police officers issued more than 52,000 citations for violations of laws which had been on the books for two years.

This is an example of committed professionals wanting to change driver’s behaviors and it is predicted to have a very positive impact on those behaviors and ultimately result in fewer distracted driving crashes.  Congratulations to California for recognizing the health risks posed by distracted driving. Hopefully other states will take notice and follow this excellent example.
