April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month – Learn What you Can Do

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a united nationwide effort to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and eliminate preventable deaths and injuries on our roadways.  Accordingly to the latest statistics released by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), over 37,000 people were killed on our highways in 2016, an increase of 5.6% from 2015. Here is what you can do for Distracted Driving Awareness Month (and the following months) to make yourself, your family, your employees and our roads safer.

Learn the Facts

Did you know that a text takes 4 seconds and that moving at 55 mph we travel the length of a football field while completing that text? Watch our 30 second video and visit the Distracted Driving Facts page on EndDD.org to learn more.

Schedule a Presentation

EndDD.org’s science based End Distracted Driving Presentation as been seen by over 375,000 teens and adults nationwide and is available free to schools. Schedule one today for your business, school, church, synagogue or community group.

Download the Family Safe Agreement

Sometimes it is difficult to change our driving behaviors, especially with mobile devices. Habits may be difficult to change unless we have a plan and commit to driving safer. Print and sign our Family Safe Driving Agreement with your family members to hold one another accountable for safe driving habits.

Employers – Keep your Employees Safe

Make a public commitment to safe driving for your company and employees and consider our adopting a cell phone policy for your company.   Download our employer policy here and simply insert your company name and logo.  Ask your employees to share and sign our Family Safe Driving Agreement with their family. Learn about our workplace presentations and schedule an EndDD.org presentation at your workplace.

Parents – Be the Driver You Want Your Teen to Be

Teens whose parents drive distracted are 2 to 4 times as likely to also drive distracted. Our children learn from us—our good habits and our bad. It’s not enough to tell our children how to drive we must show them. Watch our 30 second video.

Passengers – Speak Up for Your Safety

Help your driver drive distraction-free. When being driven by a distracted driver, speak up and ask the driver to drive safer. Share the responsibility for arriving safely by offering to make calls or text if necessary.
