Employers Must Make Distracted Driving Awareness a Priority For Their Employees

Secretary of Transportation La Hood and NHTSA director Strickland joined  forces to salute over 4,000 Volkswagen and Audi employees who pledged never to text while driving.

The effort was in response to Secretary LaHood’s challenge to employers several months ago to promote safer non-distracted driving by their employees. It makes good business sense to promote and require employees to drive safer-for the employer’s sake as well as the safety of employees and their families as well as all who will come in contact with those employees as they are driving on our highways. Network of Employers for Safer Driving will soon have tool-kits available for employers who want to make safer driving a priority.

Network of Employers for Traffic Safety’s mission is to improve the health and safety of employees, their families and the community by preventing traffic crashes that occur both on- and off-the-job. Plans for Drive Safely Work Week, October 3-7, 2011 will be announced shortly.
