Buffalo Area Students Receive One Last Lesson Before Summer

One June 8th, Amherst Attorneys Hershel Gelber & Tim O’Connell of Gelber & O’Connell spoke to students at Williamsville South High School.

This was the fifth presentation given by Gelber & O’Connell as part of EndDD’s student awareness initiative and WNY was on the scene. to interview students, as well as Tim O’Connell who was one of the firm’s speakers. “We see the consequences of distracted driving everyday, and people don’t modify their behavior until something tragic happens. We want to bring the message now before something serious happens” O’Connell Said.

Some Students were surprised to find out how long it actually takes to send a text message: 4.6 seconds. Those seconds really count when you’re on the road, but your eyes are not.

Together, Gelber & O’Connell reached 850 students since this past April. They will continue their part of the initiative during the summer by taking part in Williamsville’s “Summer Safety Check” on June 20th with the NY State Troopers, and taking part in the “Pledge To Drive Responsibly Campaign with Channel 2. Channel 2 will also be with them at the Erie County Fair in August, and the Buffalo Bill Pre-season Kids Day Game to deliver a gentle reminder about the importance of not driving distracted.

Gelber & O’Connell are also eager to start visiting schools again next year in the Greater Buffalo Area.
